FROZEN EDUCATION - An art exhibition on Education

14.10. - 27.10.2019, Kaskadenkondensator, Basel

with Dimitra Charamandas, Panos Chasapis, Maria Glyka, Aspasia Krystalla, Dimitris Rentoumis, Tassos Tataroglou, Yota Tsotra, Vassilis Vlastaras, Kathrin Siegrist, Adonis Volanakis. Special participation: the Xeniseum Museum of Education (MoE-X) of the University of Creta with Prof. Anthony Hourdakis and Dr. Kostas Christidis.

The term FROZEN EDUCATION was used by the Indian philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti to characterize the obsolete way of our education. Education includes a variety of aspects of our society, ranging from family, schools to our expanded social networks. Education undoubtedly shapes the future of our world. Focusing on Greece as a case study, the FROZEN EDUCATION exhibition attempted to transform the Kaskadenkondensator into a working laboratory. The participating artists, thinkers, writers, historians and musicians reflected on the past and revealed the present of the Greek educational system throughout the recent decades, based on their own personal experiences and research.
The exhibition was accompanied by a workshop in collaboration with students of the institute Lehrberufe für Gestaltung und Kunst of the Academy of Art and Design in Basel, a poetry night by Panos Chasapis and an experimental music performance by Tassos Tataroglou.

Organized by Yota Tsotra in collaboration with Dr. Kuckuckslabrador.

Supported by Christoph Merian Foundation, Foundation Temperatio, Institut Kunst and Institut Lehrberufe für Gestaltung und Kunst HGK | FHNW, University of Crete (GR), Aegean Air, Smyrliadis
