∑ SUMME - An exhibition of the independent art spaces of Basel

14.11. - 6.12.2015, Villa Renata, Basel

For the first time in history, the independent art spaces/ artist run spaces / project spaces and nomadic curatorial projects of Basel got together on a common platform called ∑-SUMME (english: sum). Hosted by Villa Renata, an old townhouse and project space itself, they presented themselves each according to its specific caracter: Some spaces used a room for curating an art exhibition, others occupied more special spaces as the kitchen, the bathroom, the water closet, the garden or the stairways to show an installational work, a video-work, a performance...
The exhibitions were accompanied by a rich frame program of performances, partys, concerts and three moderated discussions called "Eintopf". Hosted by Kaskadenkondensator and deuxpieces the invited professionals talked with representatives of the participating projects about the conditions of independent art spaces in general and specifically in Basel.
